Not going. Too expensive for the whole thing and crap venue. They played in my city last time, fuckers can come back to it too.
I don't really understand why they are playing where they are. In previous years their excuses for not touring here have been that there are no suitable venues. So now they choose the most corporate venue in the country and use Ticketmaster to sell it. Weird. R.E.M. played at an awesome natural amphitheatre, with duck pond in front of the stage, but Radiohead ignore it.

Identikit is pretty cool. Why are all the good songs not on the album?

What do people think of the old B-Sides they've been playing?
Meeting in the Aisle, The Amazing Sounds of Orgy, etc.
To me, they sound like boring renditions of half-forgotten songs, but I have a feeling that has a lot to do with the low-quality of the recordings.

Meeting in the Aisle sounds really meandering. Orgy sounds okay.

Butters are you going to any of the UK shows?
I'll need to catch up with all the newer ones in advance. I'd be sad if they started playing Staircase or whatever and I didn't know what it was.

Also (double posting isn't cool, but I'm out of practice), I'll be really interested to see how the setlist develops over the next several months. I wouldn't be surprised if they incorporated a few more earlier ones as the year goes on, though that might be wishful thinking.

This is the first time I've passed on a Radiohead show in Ohio. $90 to not be in the lawn was just too much, especially with how boring the last album was. :/ A few of my friends went. I almost bought seats for $70 and then realized I didn't even want to spend that much + gas money. I feel a little guilty... I dunno. I'm watching the streaming Bonnaroo feed right now. I still don't know if I made the right choice.

ok, I have a question to anyone who has actually seen Radiohead on this tour.
From the youtube clips, it's difficult to tell, but the whole show doesn't seem quite as good as when they have performed in recent years.
Is this the case, or is it just bad quality video clips?

ok, I have a question to anyone who has actually seen Radiohead on this tour. From the youtube clips, it's difficult to tell, but the whole show doesn't seem quite as good as when they have performed in recent years. Is this the case, or is it just bad quality video clips? the show is not quite as good as when they have performed in recent years. first off, thom can't sing as well as he used to be able to. but he still writes these ambitious vocal parts for himself. maybe he can still hit the notes but isn't trying? because sometimes he can? and that's a lot of pressure to be under. if jonny or phil has an off night, nobody notices. they are instrumentalists. but the vocalist has a really big responsibility. then you have a bigger mix of songs that just aren't as good. or are good, but not as good live. whatever drugs and insanity influenced them between OK Computer and Amnesiac with actually Hail was really good too ... that is somethiing that has changed. and not for the better. sorry to say. this show i saw, i was lucky. because there were a lot of songs i loved and only a few meh ones. and it was a good solid performance. actually kicked my ass for 4 songs in a row. but used to be 24 songs in a row kicked my ass with no crappy piano ballads. i will still follow them as a band and go to their shows, but it seems more like a nostalgia trip and an occasion to remember when they were fucking amazing. like 2003 and before. even 2008 was brilliant. best ever stage and good performance. i just wish they'd consult me in regard to their setlists. i don't like slow mellow songs in concert.

that's a really good post. insightful.
i feel bad for being critical, but i don't think i was making shit up to be mean. i just don't think half of their new stuff rises to the level of their past brilliance.
some does but it doesn't kick ass the way idioteque and national anthem do. and they used to be able to write a slower song that was still edgy, lyrically interesting and musically innovative.
i think you nailed it in regard their current motivation too.
on the topic of thom's voice, i wonder if he ever worked with a vocal instructor. someone who would tell him, "no don't do that, it'll kill your voice." i have heard interviews with opera singers who said one coach would teach them one way, and then another would tell them that no, that's a bad technique and will cause damage. because other singers maintain their voice better than thom has. and i wonder if his ego that you mentioned prevented him from using a vocal instructor.
